چکیده

We determined the structural and the magnetic phase diagram for the disordered, ternary system FeNiPt in the Fe-rich corner in the vicinity of the y(fcc)-a(bcc) transition region along the quasi binary cross section Fe,-,(Pt50Ni50), with x=0.28, 0.3, 0.31, 0.32 and 0.35. All alloys are characterized by X-ray investigations, magnetization measurements M(T,H) (4.2K0.31 the y (fcc) phase is stable down to 4.2K, and pronounced magnetovolume effects (Invar-like behavior) is observed. For the alloys close to the y-a transition, the magnetic behavior M(T,H) is also discussed.

Magnetic Aspects of Martensitic Transformations in FeNi Alloys

Feloo-xNi, alloys for x<34 at% i.e., up to the structurally stable Invar concentration, undergo a martensitic transformation. In the parent fcc-phase these alloys show a volume enhancement which is known as the anti-Invar effect. This effect disappears at a concentration at which the martensitic transformation also no longer takes place. In a narrow concentration range of about 301x<34 at% Inva...

Strain glass transition in a multifunctional β-type Ti alloy

Recently, a class of multifunctional Ti alloys called GUM metals attracts tremendous attentions for their superior mechanical behaviors (high strength, high ductility and superelasticity) and novel physical properties (Invar effect, Elinvar effect and low modulus). The Invar and Elinvar effects are known to originate from structural or magnetic transitions, but none of these transitions were fo...

Electron-Phonon Interaction and Phonon Softening in Systems with Magnetovolume Instabilities

The interrelation of Invar and martensitic behaviour in transition metal alloys like Fe65Ni35 is discussed on the basis of ab initio calculations for stoichiometric systems like Fe3Ni. We also examined face centered cubic iron as a model system for Antiinvar which like Invar shows a pronounced phonon softening. Neutron scattering experiments on Invar systems have shown that the TA1 phonon mode ...

The Role of the Nature of Magnetic Coupling on the Martensitic Transformation in Fe-Ni

Fe,,,Ni, with xs30 at.%, known as anti-Invar alloys, undergo mprtensitic transformations. Total energy calculations have shown that these alloys incorporate a strongly fluctuating magnetic moment in the fcc state. In order to undeixtand the relationship between the moment fluctuations and the martensitic transformation, we have investigated the magnetic moment in the paramagnetic fcc state of t...

Monte Carlo Simulations of High-moment { Low-moment Transitions in Invar Alloys

We have reproduced magneto-volume eeects typical for Invar alloys by examining a spin-analogous model which describes coupled spatial and magnetic degrees of freedom and, additionally, chemical disorder. Constant pressure Monte Carlo simulations of this model show an almost vanishing thermal expansion over a broad range of temperatures below T C , a softening of the bulk modulus and the absence...
